By the time Taylor and Alex got married, they'd already built a pretty wonderful life together. They had a house, a dog, years of inside jokes, and the kind of comfort that only comes from spending a decade with your favorite person.

So when they finally decided to throw a wedding, it wasn't about proving anything. It was about celebrating everything they'd already built. And trust me, it was worth the wait.

Cowboy Boots and a Barn Full of Character

Their wedding took place on a sunny November afternoon at Jack's Barn in Oxford, New Jersey.

It was one of those crisp fall days where you're grateful the sun is out, even if your hands are a little cold.

The barn itself felt like it belonged in a movie. Twinkle lights hung from the ceiling, giant chandeliers sparkled overhead, and vintage furniture was tucked into cozy corners. Everywhere you looked there was another little detail to discover.

When I arrived, Taylor was getting ready with her sisters and her mom. Everything felt so calm… There weren't ten stylists rushing around or makeup cases taking over every inch of the room.

Instead, everyone seemed content just spending time together before the day officially began.

Taylor slipped on a pair of cowboy boots beneath her wedding dress, added some beautiful vintage jewelry, and suddenly the whole vibe made perfect sense.

Elegant, timeless, but ready for a party.

Ten Years, One First Look

I always love first looks because they give couples a chance to see each other without a hundred people watching.

When Alex turned around and saw Taylor, you could almost see the wheels turning.

After ten years together…

After buying a house.

After raising a dog together.

After building a whole life side by side...

They were about to become husband and wife.

It's funny how one day can still feel like the beginning of something, even after knowing each other inside and out.

A Wedding That Felt Like Them

Guests arrived from the hotel on school buses, which somehow felt like exactly the right way to start the celebration. Everyone stepped off wearing rich jewel tones and velvet, looking perfect against the November landscape.

The ceremony took place outside with the late afternoon sun beginning to settle lower in the sky. One of my favorite parts was that Alex’s mom officiated the ceremony. Having someone who has watched your relationship grow from the beginning stand with you as you begin this next chapter… That's pretty hard to beat.

My other favorite part? The bubble guns that guests used at the end of the ceremony.

The Party Started... and Never Stopped

Some weddings slowly work their way into party mode. This was NOT one of them. Once music started, people never seemed to leave the dance floor. Every new song somehow brought even more energy than the one before it.

It didn't take long before Taylor was wearing a pair of bedazzled sunglasses she'd found amongst the groovy 70s-inspired photo booth accessories, laughing with friends who were pretending to play inflatable guitars like they were headlining a sold-out concert.

The entire wedding was not about being trendy, it was about having fun. And that's exactly what the whole day felt like.

There Isn't One “Right” Timeline

I think one of my favorite things about Taylor and Alex's wedding had nothing to do with the decorations or the venue.

It was the reminder that there isn't one "right" timeline for getting married.

Some couples wait six months, some wait six years. And some spend ten years building a life together before deciding it's finally time to throw the biggest party they've ever hosted.

None of those stories are better than the others, they’re just different.

If your wedding reflects who you are, the people you love, and the life you've already built together, you're doing it exactly right.
